Seed Cycling Made Easy!
What is Seed Cycling?
Seed Cycling is the naturopathic practice where women & people who menstruate take two specific seeds during their follicular (first half) and luteal (second half) periods of their cycle. The seeds taken are said to help with hormone balancing resulting in reduced PMS and menopausal symptoms as well as managing PCOS.
During the follicular phase, flax and pumpkin seeds are consumed whilst during the luteal phase sesame and sunflower seeds are taken - 1 tbsp of each a day. When taking our products, since these are ground into spreads and are more concentrated, we suggest 1 tbsp of each spread which contains both seeds for each phase.
The LUNA Adaptogens:
Our seed cycling products at LUNA are enhanced with adaptogens, each one with it's own properties:
MACA: Maca is a Peruvian plant shown to increase libido, boost endurance, increase fertility, improve mood by reducing feelings of anxiety, reduce blood pressure as well as reducing menopausal symptoms due to its ability to regulate the hormone estrogen.
ASHWAGANDHA: Ashwagandha is a herb native to Asia and Africa, shown to help the body better manage stress, improve sleep, help increase exercise performance, ease arthritis related symptoms as well as slow nerve related damage.
RHODIOLA ROSEA: Rhodiola is a herb mostly grown in northern Europe and Asia and has been used for centuries to treat fatigue, depression and anxiety in these regions. Recent studies have also shown that rhodiola can increase exercise performance.
SHATAVARI: Shatavari is a species of asparagus which has been used in Indian medicine for centuries. Studies published in 2018 suggest that Shatavari can have positive effects on reducing PCOS symptoms. Another study showed that Shatavari can help reduce night sweats and hot flashes in menopausal women.
